Life is About Winning ….

Life is about winning with people. I can say that in sobriety and while in treatment I have received more positive feedback than I feel like I allowed for in many years, and it felt good to be supported, not to mention the improvement to my blog stats by wordpress and cloudflare. I’m work in progress.

So what is that feeling of support about? It’s about listening, taking advice, working hard, going through the ropes, discipline, making improvements to your daily routine, keeping busy, being social, attending functions, being there for others, and when you are there for others, your world opens up to a much nicer place. I can’t describe the sense of relief you get when things start working out for you, professionally, socially, or romantically. So improve, for you, for everyone.

What does winning with people mean? To me it means saying the right thing, taking criticism lightly, the less conflict the better. Being appropriate, being positive, saying things well, there is no end to winning with people, it’s something that we can all improve upon. I’ve been lucky to blog and to have received so much positive praise for my work and writing, not to mention support during tough phases or writing and problem solving. Mostly be relatable, the easier you are to approach on subjects, and the more clear you are able to communicate the better. People will always be smart enough to disagree, or play devils advocate, also don’t discourage people from being people, and having a mind of themselves, that’s part of the learning process, to think, to disagree, to speak out.

I just researched winning with people on Google.com and found a book by John C. Maxwell, called “Winning with People.” One of the principles he mentions to win with people, is:

“The Lens Principle: Who YOU are determines a number of things.

  • How you see others
  • How you view life
  • What you do” [1]

One of the reasons I am such a big fan of SCOTUS and loved law school so much is that they teach you and recommend to “argue all sides,” this is what makes for balanced writing. It would be impossible to misrepresent a side in life, if you constantly shed awareness to bringing to light facts not just state opinions, and from there allow people to decide for themselves what is, and what things are about. Whether that’s an argument, a relationship, a work performance, a lawsuit, a fight, an experience, you are you and maybe nothing can change the way you feel, but never forget that people and what they think can potentially put you at tremendous odds in case you ever get something wrong, by today’s standards of what’s considered acceptable and appreciated. In today’s world of mental health issues and medications, there are so many opinions on what just looking at you people can tell, not such a huge fan of psychology even though I used to major in psychology up to statistics in college, switching to sociology and got As. I feel like focusing on the problems that lie within you, helps, but it ignores everything else that could possibly have made you this way, many are not such a fan of environmental stressors, but I still feel like we aren’t totally responsible for everything that happens to us, just for being ourselves.

One of the great things about life, is that people are different, look different, think different things, have different educations and work experiences and life experiences. Then again by virtue of reading me by blog, we can all come together and study the same writing and generate thoughts of our own simply reading mine. I used to want to be a think tank. I love problem solving, and wish I had a teaching degree. I was only a teachers assistant in college for one course, picked from the top of my class.

Therefore to win with people, simply be clear about what your goals are in life, allow people to get to know you, and I think this is what has made the difference as a blogger, I guess the heading pages aren’t just words I put together out of the ordinary to regular website about pages and agendas. I think when you have a clear direction and purpose for doing the work you are doing, that allows people to be less on eggshells about what’s coming next, there can be a conscious expectation for the things that you are going to say to fall in line with the values you have listed as mattering to you in life. To me that’s winning with people, writing quotes and sharing wisdom and what I think in my own unique way and in my own words, and then blog and write in a way that if not all can agree or relate, betters their perception of me, themselves, and hopefully others like me suffering from mental health issues.
