Staying well is incredibly difficult when you are feeling triggered or symptomatic. My best advice would be to stay positive. Iβve noticed that in times of difficulty Im either reaching out to get help, or feeling stuck and decide to shut myself off from the world, and that ends up causing me more problems, than problems its fixing. Itβs so hard to stay balanced socially, professionally, romantically, and practice good self-care. Good self-care includes reminding yourself that you are worthy of a good life, that you deserve to be loved, that you should be able to love yourself, it gets tricky when you shut yourself off from the world, it can be hard to explain to someone trying to talk to you, for you to be in your head, and not able to have a basic, hey hello how are you conversation. I sometimes feel like mental health becomes this long explanation, that canβt be described in a text, but do your best. Some people will be receptive to what you have to say about life, and some people might shut you out and not be able to help you, that doesnβt mean give up.
Personal Update: I just went to therapy today and already feeling better, putting in the work to get well again. And it helps to just get started, it doesn’t matter where you are in the recovery process, only that you show up, stay sober, and continue to do your best. I know as someone who struggles with voices, I go through a completely different kind of chaos than a normal person would go through when their world is turned upside down, but I have to do my best to stay positive. Sometimes it feels like I have a recording device connected to my body recording everything, and Im sure thats not possible. Im sure that what I put into words, is the only way anyone can tell how Im feeling. So Im just glad to be getting help finally, and working through my symptoms, set goals, and get back out there.
