Choose to Improve …..

Merry Christmas, to all those who celebrate. One of the biggest changes you can make on life, becomes a willingness, to stay well, for yourself, for your loved ones, and for all those who follow. Something I’ve learned recently about myself, while in recovery, in the middle of maintaining sobriety, improving, medication management, and speaking in public, is how easily all of that can become off balance, in a second when you stop believing in yourself, and know when to stop. Even in years of sobriety with mental health, it’s been a struggle to blog, and stay professional, save things for therapy, and to not open up online or get hurt, the difference between this post, or any post, that doesn’t demonstrate the kind of advice and output, that is for my audience, or how I am continuing to learn to manage my private struggle, and not use my online space for struggling in public, is more about mental health, not substances. I am the same person today as anyday in writing, but it is always preferred to know when Im in a place, and when I need to stop, mindful of what Im writing and take care of myself, is the best thing I can do while editing my website, and deciding what to publish, and how I want to manage my progress and mental health, and ability to help others.

On a positive note, I was reading a book today, in the middle of dropping what Im struggling with personally, to pick up a book and start reading is sometimes the solution for dealing with your own problems, and how to better your own thoughts, if you want to be someone who can help others. Author Gabrielle Berstein, recommends (page 77) “you only need a few minutes for things like journaling, meditating, going for a walk, listening to your favorite song, or striking up a conversation …. Give yourself at least 2 minutes of reprive every day from incessant fear-based belief systems that keep you in negativity.” She describes this process of leaning into things away from the negativity is how you’re led up the emotional scale. Reminding us to not dwell in the past. That when you live with ease and joy you life can change, and experience a sense of newness, happiness. [1]

I hope that wherever my journey blogging takes me, that you continue to be reminded, to take care of yourself before others, and that you know you best. This is just a blog, to be there for others, to help others in times of need, to share helpful advice when Im able and in a good place in life. And like everyone else, in a pivotal moment in my recovery, where it’s important to continue on this path to recovery, sober, and keep working on myself, and while publishing reminded, how to better manage my writing and what Im going through when symptoms arise, to keep my writing offline in those moments. Thank you for your continued support, I wish you all the best this holiday season.
