According to Rick Hanson PhD, “For many of us, perhaps the hardest thing of all is to believe that “I am a good person.” [1] So what does it take to be a good person. Think of what you value in yourself and in others. Talking to my sponsor she described what is is often a reflection of what’s within projected onto others. So start from within, what’s missing, what needs work, and deep down know yourself who are you and what are you about. You think of this walking into a room full of strangers what am I doing here, who am I, and do I belong, yes you belong and who is around you is probably just as nervous about themselves and who they are too. Don’t be a stranger, integrate, get to know others in the community, be proactive, help others, volunteer, find a new job, do what it takes to find yourself and be yourself, there really is no limit.
Google.com says, “To be a good person, focus on developing traits like kindness, honesty, and respect while also practicing empathy and being a good listener to understand others’ perspectives. Act with integrity, take responsibility for your actions, and strive for personal growth. Engage in acts of kindness, be fair and non-judgmental, and find ways to support others to foster positive interactions and a better self-perception.” [2]
