Everything will be okay ….

If there is one thing I have learned upon hospitalization in a psychiatric center, is that everything will be okay, and that it’s okay to hit pause in life. When you are left in treatment, when all there is to focus on is your health, you realize, that the rest of life can wait until you get well. You dont have to do everything at once, its okay to take a break from life, and be sheltered from reality and the news and everything thats going on in the world, to take time to focus on yourself. It’s always okay to hit pause and to take care of yourself. No one should force you to do anything you’re not ready for in life, its okay to take a step back, and ask yourself is this helping me, is this doing me a disservice, and what should I care about in this moment, this moment in my life, what is it teaching me about life. You would think that the simplest reminders in life are too simple to think about, you think that you are above, or too smart to be focused on things like health and thinking and recognize when a thought disorder is occurring, and thats okay, it okay to think that you are above a system of treatment for a disorder in life, many dont go to treatment, and are high functioning, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t tend to your needs in life, and hit pause, and take a break from the hustle for a moment. You can always go back to working again, many are not able to come full circle, so be thankful for your health and having the opportunity to work, some live disabled and not able to work, so be grateful for your placement in life, many dream of being well, and able to work, me included, its something that Im working on, and blogging in the meantime to get by and build my self confidence again. There are stepping stones in life to help us get to where we want to be in life. For me its blogging, for some people its sobriety, for some its religion, for some its reading books, for some its going to the gym, for some its weight loss, only you can figure out what treatment is needed for you to get well, you have a choice to get help. The ER is only a step away between languishing in mental health issues, or taking the chance to be seen by a doctor, and allow a medical professional to make choices for you. Ive never been in better hands in life, than talking to a medical professional, thats the best person and most trusted person to share your thoughts with and get feedback from, even in the ER you can tell them pretty much everything, and they can decide whether you go home, or whether you need to be admitted to treat a psychiatric condition. Sometimes I went home, and sometimes I stayed, but I never allowed myself to fall down so far that I couldn’t get back up. Sometimes I refused to be seen, and thats when things took a turn for the worse when I didn’t call 911 or didnt go to the ER, I ended up overdosing and collapsed, and the paramedics had to come to my apartment, and resuscitate me, I put on oxygen, I had organ failure, and my Brother had to go to the hospital to help me. That made everyone sad, that was something that could’ve been prevented had I gone to treatment sooner, for a disorder and mis management of my medications, there should be no down too far to get help is what I learned, even if someone is putting you down in life, you dont have to give up no matter what, its always okay to get help, or talk to the police, do whatever it takes to not lose sight of a better life and a better condition. Sometimes things dont get better unless we pause, and it’s okay to set life aside for a moment 30 days or for a year spent in treatment to get well and to stay well. It’s a process so dont give up, no one should think any less of you, because you choose to get help. With HIPAA nowadays, its really no ones business to know what you do with your health, or what medications you take, what you’ve been treated for, or know your diagnosis, thats none of anyones business, HIPAA is intended to protect you from discrimination and negative judgment. It’s to allow you to lead a normal life, without the stress of everyone knowing the status of your health.
