Mental Health Blog

Sometimes we need gentle reminders we’re on track. When in our minds something feels off, it’s easier looking in than it is looking out at times, so lean on others for support when it gets overwhelming. You’ll get there, one step at a time, believe in yourself, you’re not expected to self-assess, we tend to be harsher critics of ourselves.

It’s possible to be on track “even if today feels heavy, slow, or uncertain.” [1] Why do we always feel like things are worse than they are? They call this impending doom in AA, like things aren’t going to work out because things didn’t work out in the past. Don’t let the past define you. Life is full of lessons, one of which is to think positively about oneself and generate a positive outlook in life, sometimes involving stepping outside ourselves and focusing on other things in life other than what we think. It’s hard to get out of your own head, when stubborn, fixated on why you can’t change your thinking. You’re a work in progress, it can feel like running in circles before you get there, but eventually have faith that you will overcome the thinking preventing you from feeling happy and secure with yourself.
