There hasn’t been a Writer’s Strike since I can last remember, I think I was living in West Hollywood at the time, and was a Paralegal Intern at the LA City Attorney’s Office. It’s been that long. All that I can say based on my participation thus far, whether I’m in the green or the red, I know one thing, when it’s hard to keep going, that is something that each one learns for themselves. We have recently lost several memorable characters in Entertainment, and this is the troubling fact that the Motion Picture Industry is faced with right now. Memorable moments in film are meant to inspire us, but I think sometimes as audience members, if you leave the expectation for inspiration, the feeling of being empty handed is not the goal of any writing or any film, or any memorable moment in film, likewise, those who’s performances have been memorable, are very much apart of the fabric from which all other memorable moments are made in film, how else would they be made if not for the examples that have been created, this is what Film is about, illuminating us all, capturing the essence of what being human is, without making us feel fragile, allowing us to feel strong, even when we are weak.

What is presence about, it means when you are in the room and when you are around, everyone else lights up, and rises to the occasion, much like a social event, when you see people you know who are excited to see you. Those are the qualities and traits to be admired about those who work in entertainment, their presence is felt in a positive way. I think given the most recent losses, this decision was made in the most professional way possible, including recent Academy Awards nominations and those selected to represent the award. That in observance of these losses, we consider both how does one maintain among a network of people working in entertainment, as well as how to people maintain as audience members appreciating the value of film, and the historical archives of American History, and allow for those who are known to be safe from the harm of later representations, in that the memory of them upon thinking of them, no matter what is the current inspiration, not be a decision that is made without reference to or recognizing a historical figure who represented femininity in a crime movie.

When I hear Writer’s Strike, I think first how can all be affected, it’s a eerie feeling of not being well, like how I’ve felt these past few weeks, making decisions about my future and then feeling sick, it’s a feeling that keeps overcoming you, until something is said, and this is the beauty of writing, is that you are able to write and speak in a way, that prevents those eerie feelings from coming up, in the form of sickness, it’s when the feeling that you are getting based on what is, is a feeling that upon description, means that a overall feeling has been lost. And maybe that’s the trouble with mental health issues, is that it doesn’t account for the group feeling of everyone feeling good and out of harm way, above the issues in life. So it’s not just them who are affected, even me as a blogger am affected by writing in the middle of a writers strike, Im not saying that there is more pressure, but there is probably negative attention, as though I’m supposed to similarly be at a loss for words, or have something to say for those who are protected in Unions, as Writers, I am not in the paid labor force, I write with my own funds, self supported. So that doesn’t mean that Im separate and detached, it means that it also hurts me that there is so much controversy, and I am someone who models and blogs, kept photos throughout years.
