Feeling wound up …

Ever feel like you’re doing everything possible to lift yourself up but getting nowhere. Ever feel like there’s no end to the amount of things that need to get done before you can rest. Ever feel like you’re caving in and about to give up. Ever had it with feeling like a failure in life and go nuts inside just trying to comprehend what it’s all about that’s keeping you from reaching your goals in life. It could just be depression. It’s not your fault, maybe you just need rest.

According to Google feeling wound up may be a result of feeling “chronically stressed” which is a “common response to sustained pressure, burnout, or anxiety, often manifesting as physical tension, rapid heart rate, and emotional exhaustion.” [1] The solution is not trying to do everything at once. Pace yourself, one thing at a time, one day at a time, even if you have to multi-task to get there, do so sparingly.

It’s not a race to get well, you know you best, that’s between you and your doctors. Don’t be ashamed to be put on meds, but avoid self-diagnosing, or doing research online, stressing yourself out about who you are. You are great, you are wonderful, you are smart enough to do the research, you are an intelligent person, who just wants to get well, and maybe needs medical attention, let a medical professional decide for you what needs to happen for you to get well, don’t be ashamed of having an advisor in life, to your mental health and well being.

Daily its up to us, when left to our own devices, there will be periods of overwhelm, but that’s normal, we have appointments to get to, deadlines to meet, forms to submit, applications to send out, letters to write, places to be, and time we make for ourselves and others. It’s all about balance. When you balance your time between what you need to do, and what you want to do, you’ll be that much happier. Always make time for the things that bring you joy in life, it’s worth carving out time for yourself in life, most would understand.
