Dress to impress …

It matters how you present yourself. Not only to feel good, but also boosts your self confidence when talking to other people. It helps to feel put together. It’s something I think most people struggle with during this sweatpants trend. It is said that “the way that you present yourself is almost as important as your words.” [1] According to one article by Who What Wear, “the rise of the sweatpants trend, while championing comfort, can damage a person’s image by creating a perception of laziness, a lack of effort, and diminished professionalism.” [2]

I know it’s important to not worry what other people think, but at the same time don’t forget your social graces or forget common sense doesn’t mean be in your face about everything to the point of insult or not trying at all, make the effort. When you dress to impress you communicate that you care about yourself and care what other people think of you. So why not demonstrate that confidence by appearing well. Do your best, no matter how tired you’re feeling just don’t communicate laziness! “It sets a standard for how others should treat you.” [3]

According to Google “Dressing to impress is crucial because it acts as non-verbal communication, signaling professionalism, self-respect, and competence, which influences how others perceive and treat you.” [4] It doesn’t hurt to look your best, everyone needs a little daily confidence boost. When you feel better this raises your self-esteem and creates a “superpower” effect in professional and personal settings.” [5] Don’t give up on your appearance it matters whether or not you think it does.
