It’s up to you … Where do you see yourself 5 years from now and what are you going to do to get there. Think of each day as bringing you one step closer. For every big goal set a few mini goals toward accomplishing that goal.
How should you answer this question? “think about where you realistically see yourself in the next five years and then articulate that in a way that is positive.” [1] Always be positive when talking about yourself you never know who’s judging you. The more positive self talk you practice the better. Who else better to cheer you on in life other than rooting for yourself in life. “If you … think positively about yourself, you will feel good and optimistic most of the time,” [2] and isn’t that the goal to feel good about ourselves and what we’re doing.
It’s important when asked this question to show “you value your personal and professional goals and that you’re willing to work hard to make them happen.” [3]
What do most people want? “To make a positive impact and contribute to society in a meaningful way. To achieve personal and professional growth, and to continuously learn and develop new skills. To find balance between work and life.” [4] So how are we going to achieve this? Ask yourself.
It’s important to have a positive self image. “A positive self-image can boost our physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.” [5] Why is self image important? “how we think about ourselves affects how we feel about ourselves and how we interact with others.” [6]
How can we live a meaningful life? First start by helping others. “helping others will give you purpose.” [7] For example, I’m learning that in sobriety the goal is not only to get well and recover but it also involves helping others through the steps in recovery.
