I started my sobriety journey 2007, my first time in rehab in Boulder CO, for cocaine use, and have not tried it since, that was short lived, and lucky to recover and be able to attend law school. #dontdodrugs
There were relapses, 2011, 2017, 2023, and 2025, but for the majority of that time in between I did not drink. Recently it’s been adderall that I stopped taking. In addition, there were stays in the hospital for psychiatric conditions and self-harm which I’ve overcome with medication and treatment.
Not everyone needs to get sober, or stop taking a medication, but for me it began to do me a disservice and caused a lot of mental health issues, and affected my writing especially on my blog, and interfered with my ability to finish my JD. I graduated with a Masters in Law in Risk Management and Compliance instead. At least I got my Masters, that took some time, but eventually completed 2020.
After getting my Masters, I started applying for paid positions in law, and so began my journey, in legal research and writing for civil litigation law firms, and proud of myself for being able to do the work.
This year I will try again to get a job in law, just waiting to get the results of my insurance exam which Ive been studying for. I’m hoping life after adderall, will still enable me to do the work.
So far on the blog things are going well. According to WordPress, I have around 2,000+ readers and month and 65,360 visitors to my website, and proud of my stats. I’ve worked hard to be a blogger and so thankful for my following, throughout every step of the way towards improvement, and hope that others are improving too by hearing from me, and what I have to say about life and my progress thus far. The lesson is to never give no matter what, and to keep trying, in whatever it is that challenges you in life. For me its maintaining sobriety, and getting paid positions in law. I hope to never give up on applying, it’s worth it to try again.
