Love yourself to improve …

Have compassion for yourself. Sometimes it’s easier to help others than it is to help ourselves. Treat yourself with the same kindness you would offer a friend. [1] You’ve made it this far in your recovery from mental health issues, pat yourself on the back. Know that you’re not alone.

The first step toward getting help often involves doing the research, finding the right therapist, finding an app that helps you, taking small actionable steps toward achieving your goals in life.

There are many benefits to caring for yourself, some of which involve avoiding harsh self-criticism, and showing yourself grace, [2] learning from mistakes and not let set back of failure keep you from achieving your dreams in life. Progress is progress no matter how small the step forward.

Love yourself. This means being kind to yourself and improving that inner dialogue with positive self talk. [3] Break the cycle of being too hard on yourself and embrace all that you are: smart, willing to change, and on your way to a better more confident self.  If you feel stuck, pick simple actions that offer enjoyment or accomplishment. [4]

Accept where you are right now. [5] Loving yourself takes some dedication. Being dedicated to support yourself through developing skills and coping mechanisms that support personal growth and your mental health. This enables improvement by fostering self-acceptance, reducing fear of failure, and motivates a desire to practice positive habits. [6] This in turn boost self-worth and resilience. [7] Focusing on self-worth rather than just self-esteem helps to accept your current self, [8] and doing what you need to do to be happy without shame for what you are going through in life.
