And in those brief moments you get to be yourself. Unphased by what others think, able to let your guard down. There’s a sense of freedom in getting to be yourself. That moment when “you stop conforming to the expectations of others and embrace your authentic self.” [1] When we stop worrying what others think we let go of the exhausting need for approval is when [we] learn to trust our own voice, and find peace in who we truly are. [2]
You just have to go out and find that person within yourself, there they lie in the waiting, for you to pick them up, cheer them up, and get going again. It’s almost like your inner child yearning for attention that’s you, that’s your insides you’re talking to, be nice to yourself. Embracing your inner child “creates the emotional safety needed to speak your truth, set healthy boundaries, and boldly be yourself.” [3] You have so much going for you in life the moment you recognize how worth it it is to love yourself and begin again.
It’s common to get wrapped up in what others thinking hindering our ability to be ourselves. Too often we experience “the fear to express yourself and reveal to others who you truly are … [so] we blend in and try to be what we think others want.” [4] In an article by time.com it is said that “many of us learn to shape ourselves into what the world expects.” [5] When we are ourselves without masking who we truly are we learn to “defy expectations by actively choosing authenticity over conformity.” [6]
