Speak well of yourself, you never know, it could be a make or break with others. And be kind to others when in Rome. You never know who’s listening, or how people identify, don’t make others feel bad for being themselves, on your team or not. Whether they’re having a good day or a bad day positive toward you or paying less attention, don’t expect everyone to be nice to you. Likewise it’s up to you to prevent yourself from feeling sided against in life.
Some need to focus on themselves, don’t take it personally. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Don’t be ashamed of yourself be proud of yourself, turn insecurity as to what others think of you and view yourself in the positive not allow that to affect what you have to share about yourself, or how you interpret others for that matter. They say that “Feeling bad about yourself often comes from a harsh inner critic, cognitive distortions, or underlying cycles of stress and burnout.” [1]
No one expects you to have it all in order to talk to others, we don’t always meet eye to eye, or live the same lives, but it’s important to speak positively of yourself and others. There are always too sides to a puzzle one where you allow others to be on the same team or one in which you differentiate between people and make either side defensive upon a negative read on a situation that could otherwise be neutralized by seeming less negative about the experience and take from it the positive, which is what people want to hear.
They say get over yourself when you’re too inclined to think you are the best while another’s take on life is worse than your own, don’t be judgmental of either attitude in life, you don’t really know what makes people tough until you’re forced to fight for yourself in life. There’s a rhyme and reason to everyone’s struggle in life, you’re not alone in this but if there’s a better way to say it then choose that over burning bridges with others or making others feel judged. They might say who are you talking about avoid referencing others as people or generalized things to mean you against the world. I learned this is AA it’s not to your benefit to live or think it’s you against people or the world for that matter.
For the most part people are nice until they feel wronged or judged by you, approach life with an open heart and not misinterpret things to be about you or directed toward you in life. The more positive you are the less likely you are to engage with combative people defensive to your take on life. Always take into consideration the feelings of others, including your own, if you can avoid it, you’ll have less anxiety about what you have to say in life.
