We’ve all been there those moments when you hold still waiting for a negative feeling or series of thoughts to leave your body, and sometimes holding still doesn’t work. We’ve tried meditation, we’ve tried writing, we’ve tried physical activity. How can we learn to just let go when the feelings arising from a given event or exposures is causing chaos to our minds. According to science, “the longer negative emotions linger in the human brain, the worse it is for your mental health.” [1]
We need help processing. How can this be done? Don’t fret. It’s common for people experiencing mental health issues to feel as though their in distress, they can be upset, overwhelmed, “guilty or ashamed,” [2] and all of that is normal in any psychotherapy or therapy situation. You have to get it out to own it, and in getting it out you’ll find strength, in a non-judgmental space that is rooting for your recovery from such emotions, not be brought down to worser states of being as we all fear.
How do we get back to a positive state of being? “Although positive emotions are worth cultivating, problems arise when people start believing they must be upbeat all the time.” [3] So don’t be too hard on yourself. You will get back to positive thinking, you will overcome the immaturity of emotional states of being, you will mature as a person and expect less from others, and you will hold your head high again with pride for all your colors earned in life.
Just think, most mental illness arising from medications, drugs, or alcohol can be solved by 1 5150 hold in a hospital for 14 days or a 30 day stay in a rehab plus AA meetings, is what’s recommended. Have a plan for getting out of your down in life and don’t lose hope. It’s always better to disclose what’s bothering you than leave it until the last minute to deal with, something you work on a little bit each day overtime becomes a bigger stride you’ll be able to make in the future moving forward.
You’ll get stronger, you’ll be more resilient, you’ll have more compassion for yourself and others, and you will be less likely to throw your life into ruin over the smallest details or setbacks in life, you’ll know who you are and what you’re about, and be less likely to be knocked off center by non-believers or skeptics, this is your life so live it. Anyone being critical of how you live your life is just looking for trouble and if they have not had it any better than you in terms of finding success online then who is to say that perfection is the only way to be well liked online. This is you there is only one you and if anyone is not accepting of you they can find someone else to love, admire, or read up on online.
