It just pushes people away in life. If you’re miserable do something about it. Don’t feel sorry about yourself and waste time in life in worry. Face reality and believe that things will change for you if you set your mind to it. It’s not as bad as you think.
Sometimes “deep unhappiness and depression often lead to isolation, alienation, and social withdrawal rather than a desire to seek out others.” [1] What seems like a temporary solution for the moment, in the end does us a disservice. It’s only until the days and months add up that we begin to wonder is this really what I want to be alone or do I want to do something about it and change my circumstance for the better.
When things feel overwhelming take one step at a time in the opposite direction of what ails you. Go for a walk, listen to a podcast, turn the TV on, read a book. It’s also okay to “journal to dump your thoughts onto paper without filtering or criticizing yourself.” [2] Sometimes hearing our own thoughts helps us to process, and visualize the changes we want to make in our life to improve, not judging ourselves as not trying hard in life and take proactive steps to repair the damage of isolating.
